Minimalism is a term that becomes more and more popular today in our stressful lifes. How to live according to minimalism by down sizing your wardrobe, not buying unneccessary stuff etc. It talks a lot about the materialistic world which is great. We are consuming and waisting so much stuff every year and if we could do less of that, both ourselves, our loved ones and the environment would be much happier.

Physical benefits
Here are some excellent benefits that comes with minimalism:
Spending less money
You don’t go impulse shopping as often anymore and don’t need to pay for extra storage somewhere just to keep your stuff. I had a friend who did this, a whole shed full of stuff he had paid for around 8 years. He wasn’t using any of these stuff and barely even knew what he had in there. Crazy! What a waste of money!
Reduce noise pollution from factories
If we don’t consume or buy as much, there is no need to produce and we have less noise from the factories since they don’t get used as much anymore. As simple as that.
Conscious consuming
When you start consuming less, you automatically start to be more aware of what kind of things you are buying and using in your home and for yourself.
Quality over quantity
You naturally get things that may cost you a bit more but will last you longer and have a better impact on yourself and the environment.
Technology
You may consider an extra time before you buy the latest version of your phone, TV or computer. If they work fine and you can use it for everything you need it for, then maybe you don’t need the latest versions of technology.
Tiny homes/Shipping containers
My FAVOURITE part! I love these small tiny houses and when you don’t own a lot of stuff, you may not need a big house. Trust me, I know this is true since I lived in my tiny little car for almost a year. 😉 A small house uses less energy which is better for the environment and you will save more money for yourself compared to heating up a big house.
So everyone now knows there are a lot of physical benefits when it comes to minimalism but I will also say there are some menthal health benefits that comes with it too.

Menthal benefits
Less stress over stuff
We can easily feel overwhelmed by all our things thats laying around in our houses or things we have in a storage shed. We feel we should clean the house but it feels like a major project that will take forever. By having less, this will not take as much time and you don’t need to get to this overwhelmed stage.
Your time
Thats the next thing. You get more time for yourself, your family or whatever you want to spend your time on. All these chores reduces and you get more time over to spend on things you love. Exactly how it should be. 😊
Sleep quality
A home thats unorganised can have a stressful effect on your wellbeing and affect your sleep quality. By having a clean and organised home, you will feel calm, satisfied and more clear in mind which improves your sleep during the nights.
So with this said, there are many good benefits that comes with minimalism. It’s up to you to decide whether this is something for you, something you want to try or not really. I know it has helped me in many ways to feel more satisfaction and reduce stress in my life.
How do I get started?
Many people are getting very attached to the stuff they own and it can be a bit of a challenge to actually get started with this if you feel curious about it.
Start small
Don’t think you need to get rid of everything you have or everything you don’t need. Maybe start with giving away something once a month or once a week. It can be as simple as a shirt or a home decor thing.
Your values
Think about what you value in life and see if the things you own has a great value in your life. If not, then maybe you don’t need it anymore.
Just because I feel this is a great way to live life, it doesn’t mean this is for everyone. If you don’t feel this is aligning with you, then go a different way and try something else. Thats what life is about, finding the things that resonate with you and makes you feel good. However, I think it’s at least worth to give it a go. 😉
Less is more.
