Do you want to feel more present in your life?

I am sure we all want to feel more present in our lifes. The stress and press in our society can be extremely high and therefore it is so important that we take care of ourselves the best way possible.

That disconnecting from our phones to be present is a good thing, is not a surprise. We are spending way to much time on our phones and mostly it is nothing important we are doing on them, just endless scrolling.

I tried for a week to put my phone away 1h before bedtime and didn’t get on it until 1h after waking up in the morning, sometimes even longer since I really liked the relaxing feeling of not looking at it. The result was obviously that I felt much more relaxed in my mind and body but also more present, energised, happy and overall satisfied. It felt like I actually gave myself time to take care of myself and I got to do heaps of things that I normally don’t feel I have time for.

It is easy for me to get into planing mode or get stuck in my head instead of taking action, so when I actually did take action, I realised that things doesn’t really take that long.

I spend more time thinking of them then actually doing them which only results in stress and dissatisfaction.

Of course it is good to go through things in your head before doing them but there is a difference between that and overthinking. Overthinking just makes you go back and forth in your mind and doesn’t take you anywhere.

This is something I recommend everyone trying and if 1h seems to long, do 30 min or only 15 min. I know we all have busy lifes sometimes but remember, that’s when we need it the most. I will definitely keep doing this as a new habit! =)

Here are some things I wrote down on a piece of paper that you can do instead which doesn’t include phone, computer or any other electronics. I highly recommend to write them down so you can easily see them when you wake up and before going to bed.

  • Meditation

  • Yoga

  • Walk

  • Exercise

  • Dance

  • Read a book

  • Spend time with family/friends in the house (without phones of course)

  • Being creative

  • Journaling

These are only a few of a hundred things you can do. Bring forward your creative side and create your own little note of things you love doing. You have nothing to lose by trying this except from feeling more present in the moment, calmer and happier. This will make you in a better mood during the day and have a better nights sleep.
